Children's Privacy Notice

Effective [EFFECTIVE DATE]. This notice explains how Beyond Their Years, run by [OPERATOR NAME], handles information about children under 13, as required by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Who can sign up

Only a parent or legal guardian can create an account. Before any child uses the site, the parent must agree to this notice and give consent. On each device, the parent also types their full name to sign before the first player starts. That signature and its date are saved only in the browser on that device.

What we collect about children

A player name (a first name or nickname is plenty), a chosen character, and game progress: stars, streaks, which lessons are finished, and scores in the language games. This is stored only in the browser on your family's device. We do not collect children's email addresses, photos, locations or contact details, and children cannot chat with anyone on the site.

How it is used

Only to run the lessons: to show each child their own map, unlock the next lesson, and keep their stars. It is not used for advertising and is never sold or shared.

Voices and the microphone

The language games read words aloud using the device's built-in voices. They do not use the microphone, and we never receive or store a child's voice.
